Website Design Services

Need To Get On The Web? Piece Of Cake.

We know what its like trying to get on the web. It can be rather intimidating and there are all these obstacles you have to overcome just to make the site visible to the public. We've been there many times and will help you bring your website ideas to life.

We always start out with domain registration which will cost you around $15.00 per year. After we select and register your domain we then can set up your hosting (server- physical location of your website). Once we have a domain and a server we can then begin the process of developing your website and designing the front-end theme.

We offer all of these services and do the work for you so you dont have to go through several different companies just to get a website up and running. Our hosting plans are reasonably priced and after your website has been launched we are there to help you monitor and improve its success. Please continue reading to see the types of websites we will build.

If you already have a website and want a new one or an upgrade, please view our website redesign service.

Static Websites

design imageA static website design is a website that has all of the information stored in .html files. These types of website's are still in operation, but many folks are switching over to the newer content management system as they are able to edit most of their content themselves, without having to know multiple programming and markup languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and/or PHP.

We would use a static .html website if you specifically requested one and the website has fewer than 5 pages and no major programming requirements (i.e. Forum, Blogs, Shopping Carts, etc.).

Note: Due to the nature of static websites all being written in HTML, the timeframes to build and maintain these website normally will cost a lot more than a CMS driven website as you must have a programmer make all the updates/changes/additions for you.

CMS (Content Management System) Websites

A CMS website is basically a website that is driven by a program. This program allows you to manage your websites content via a Control Panel. We encourage you to try out a CMS website if you have a lot of content that you would like to present and if you require anything similar to these website functions:

  • Multiple Web Forms
  • Membership Management
  • Newsletters or Blogs
  • Classified Listings
  • E-Commerce (stores, downloads, etc.)
  • Photo Galleries
  • Forums

Polar Web Design is powered by Joomla!™

For all of our CMS projects, we use the Joomla! CMS. Here are the reasons we have decided to use Joomla!

  1. Gives website owner the ability to add new content easily, with little to no HTML experience necessary using an online text editor.
  2. The platform itself is developed by teams of Open Source programmers, who regularly release updates keeping your platform secure.
  3. Most often, many add-on functions such as newsletters, forums, shopping carts, etc, can be found at the Joomla! extension directory, making upgrades quick and easy.
  4. The templating system available to Joomla! gives you unparalleled power in creating ads, info boxes, login boxes, and much more!
  5. Joomla! is well known for setting a high standard for search engine optimization. Utilizing the default tools available in Joomla! we can get you the search engine rankings your content deserves!
  6. Joomla! recently launched a one click update program for version 1.7 and newer, making updates a breeze.
